Teens and advertising

Teens are greatly influenced by advertising. They tend to compare themselves to the glamorous, attractive and slim people they see advertised everywhere. They fail to realize that those images are many times manipulated by those who seek profit. In fact, technologies allow advertisers to create "perfect" people.
As a result of this uneven comparison, teens feel many times insecure about their body image or about their place in the world. Moreover, they may develop eating disorders in order to fit into the impossible thin.

A message to teens:
If you want to live life to the fullest, you'll need lots of energy and commitment. You can only obtain this energy if you eat healthily and have strong and sincere relationships with the people around you.

Don't let anybody blind your discernment. Be honest to yourself and be aware of "fake" friends!

Adbusters- a very critical view on advertising

Spoof ads

"Adbusters is an activist magazine with a circulation of 120,000 issues devoted to numerous political and social causes, many of which are anti-consumerist in nature. Adbusters has also launched numerous international social marketing campaigns, including Buy Nothing Day and TV Turnoff Week, and is known for their "subvertisements" that spoof popular advertisements."

The power of advertising

Advertising is everywhere; consequently it’s impossible to escape its influence. Whenever we turn the TV on we are bombarded by powerful advertising messages, and the same happens whenever we turn on the radio, leaf through the pages of a magazine, surf in the net or walk on the street. In fact, advertising makes part of our lives whether we like it or not.
In order to persuade us to buy and buy, marketers use incredible strategies that most people are not aware of. When we go shopping and we are not sure of what product we want, we will remember that advert we saw before. It works ….
However, I must admit that there ads that are true works of art and excellent examples of creativity and genius. Others are really entertaining and make us have a good time. Nevertheless, there should be limits to advertising campaigns.
And you? Do you share the same idea?
